| Puerto
Vallarta, located on the Pacific Coast at the center of the Bay of Banderas,
is only a leisurely drive from Punta Mita. As one of Mexico’s premier
vacation destinations, the town offers visitors the charm and hospitality
of a quaint, colonial seaside village featuring a wide array of restaurants,
shops and galleries. At its heart stands the Cathedral of Our Lady of
Guadalupe, with its bell tower announcing each hour of the day. Nearby,
the River Cuale, shaded by giant trees on either bank, offers a cooling
walk in the afternoon. Just up the hill is the famous Gringo Gulch, once
home to Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. Just a 20-minute drive south
is Mismaloya Beach, where John Huston filmed “The Night of the
Iguana.” And at the north end of town, Marina Vallarta’s
yacht harbor and stretch of beach are lined with major, international
hotels.
When
the heart beckons for a day or night out, come to Puerto Vallarta. Dine,
dance, shop, see the sights, or simply stroll the malecon as the sun
sets over the peninsula only a short distance north, Punta Mita.
